The FIGSS is aimed at all doctoral students who have a contract with the FIAS or are supervised by a FIAS Fellow.
FIGSS - Welcome Day
PHD Welcome Day 2020
For all new PhD students at FIAS, there will be an annual FIGSS-Welcome Day, starting in 2020. With this event, we would like to give you the opportunity to get to know FIAS a little better.
A diverse program will introduce the different research areas, answer your questions, and of course, offer a lot of networking opportunities.
The FIGSS Welcome-Day takes place on 28.09.2020
The next day there will be an information event for all PhD students of the CMMS project.
Also, if it is a mandatory event, we ask you to register or cancel so that we can plan exactly. You have received the information for registration by email.
If you have any further questions, just get in touch with Patricia.
Yes! the introduction event is an integral part of FIGSS and therefore compulsory for all new FIGSS members.
No! But, there will be scientific lectures by experienced doctoral students. This will give you an insight into the diverse research at FIAS.
If you are unable to attend for health reasons, or are not in Frankfurt at the moment, you are welcome to follow the lectures online. The interactive part is only available here on site.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19, we have to limit participation in the Welcome Day to doctoral students who started at the FIAS within the last year. But there will be some events for everyone in autumn and winter!
28.09.2020 9.00 - 18.30
The exact program will be announced, we will start at 9.00 a.m. in the morning and end in the evening with a common meal.
The next day we offer you a guided tour trough the city centre of Frankfurt in the afternoon. We will explore the city in small groups and there will be a lot of exciting information for all those who have moved to Frankfurt, but also the people from Frankfurt will get their money's worth.
Short-term program changes possible at any time!
The threat of Covid-19 is still present and your health, as well as that of your families is our priority. For this reason, we will have to take a number of precautions during this event. In case of increasing numbers of infections we might have to cancel the event completely or offer it online.
As we do not know the exact situation at the end of September, we will inform you about the exact measures to be taken. So please be prepared for short-term changes!
